The five 'towns' of Mendip are very different in character. Frome is an architectural gem with medieval streets and a thriving artistic community; Glastonbury is famed for its Abbey ruins and its eclectic shops; Shepton Mallet is the Gateway to the Mendips with a wealth of beautiful listed buildings; Street with a long history of shoe making,, is now the home of the Clarks Shopping Village; Wells may be a City with a Cathedral but it is also a traditional market town with many fine food outlets. All five 'towns' are well worth a visit.
